MONROE COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - Same sex marriage in one Florida county is hitting a roadblock.
A judge in Florida Keys, who last week ruled the state's ban on same-sex marriage is unconstitutional, has now refused to lift a stay on that ruling and allow gay couples to begin marrying. That's because the State Attorney General has filed an appeal.
Couples would have been able to file for marriage licenses starting Tuesday, but that is now on hold pending the outcome of the appeal.
That decision could take weeks or even months.
