Gas leak closes parts of Blue Heron Blvd.

RIVIERA BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Riviera Beach police say a thousand gallons of fuel leaked from a gas truck at a BP gas station at Congress Avenue and Blue Heron Boulevard Wednesday afternoon.

As a result, West Blue Heron Boulevard has been closed to traffic in all directions from Congress Avenue on the west to Avenue 'S' on the east.

Police evacuated nearby businesses as a precaution. They include a Laundromat, a Dunkin' Donuts and a Quiznos sub restaurant. "They just said it might blow up at any minute because it's so hot out here," one evacuated worker said.

A hazmat crew is on the scene.

Fire rescue crews have begun to apply foam to the affected area.

It's unclear how long the road will be closed.
