TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

As the search continues for a suspected rabid coyote in central Tucson, the Arizona Game and Fish Department said the animal was shot and likely wounded on Thursday by a department worker.

According TPD Sgt. Dugan, a coyote tried to attack several people and dogs in the area. A search was conducted but it was unsuccessful. Arizona Game and Fish is currently tracking the animal. 

Anyone who sees a coyote is asked to immediately call (800) 352-0700 or (520) 628-5376 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
