Two thrown from boat after hitting bridge

BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Two men were injured when they were thrown from their boat after it hit a bridge at the Boynton Inlet.

When Palm Beach County Fire Rescue crews arrived at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, they found two people in the water and their damaged boat was adrift, heading towards the Intracoastal.

Witnesses reported the boat hit the bridge, and the two men were ejected from the vessel into the water.

One witness says a few brave people jumped into the water after the crash. "Everybody just went running to the wall. People all on that side went running… got them up out of the water. It was really scary. Everybody was just in shock," said witness Denise Cotton.

Paramedics assessed the condition of the victims, and one man had injuries severe enough to make him a trauma alert. He was then transported to Delray Medical Center for treatment.
