LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - Lake Worth officials say they are fed up with chronic nuisance properties, and Monday morning they started tearing them down. The city kicked off its tear down blitz on "D" Street.
The home knocked down caused the community many problems with squatters and drug dealers, according to the city.
Lake Worth's mayor estimates there are more than 100 properties in Lake Worth in similar condition and dozens are already scheduled to be demolished.
Each demolition costs between $10,000 to $20,000, but, the mayor says, the improvements to neighborhoods will be worth it.
