PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Going once. Going twice. The auction is over for Jodi Arias's infamous eyeglasses she wore during her trial and the proceeds are going to a Phoenix-area charity.

St. Mary's Food Bank of Phoenix was the recipient on Wednesday of the proceeds totaling $980.

Bidding began on Sept. 12, starting at $500, and ended on Sept. 24. People had to put down $250 as a deposit to even make a bid.

The non-profit organization issued the following statement:

"St. Mary's Food Bank Alliance is appreciative of the community support we receive that allows us to serve our mission of feeding the 1 in 5 Arizonans that struggle with hunger every day."

Arias' attempts to make money off her notoriety are not new; she's been selling art on her website.

One appraiser said these items can go for a couple thousand bucks.

"There's a whole subculture out there that buys this type of stuff, and they've come up with a name for it, murderabilia," said Erik Hoyer, owner of EJ's Auction and Consignment. "As for me, it's not something I'd be interested in buying or representing, for my company to represent. It's not something we would want to do."

The Maricopa County Sheriffs Office said while they doubt these glasses are even hers they couldn't stop her from selling them because they weren't associated with the actual crime.

Jury selection resumed Wednesday in her penalty retrial as prosecutors try again for a death sentence.

Arias was convicted of murder last year in the 2008 killing of her ex-boyfriend in Arizona, but jurors couldn't agree on a sentence.
