WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A suspect, wanted in connection with a homicide at a luxury Alabama hotel, was arrested Wednesday night by U.S. Marshals in West Palm Beach.
According to the U.S. Marshals Service, Rayon Bartley was apprehended as he got off of a Greyhound bus at the downtown West Palm Beach bus station just before 11 p.m.
Marshals say he has family in the West Palm Beach area.
According to Marshals, Bartley is wanted for killing his boss at the Renaissance Ross Bridge Resort in Hoover, Alabama. "The U.S. Marshals in Alabama gave us a lead today [Wednesday] that Bartley committed a homicide on his employer at the resort in Hoover," U.S. Marshal Manny Puri said.
According to a news release from the Hoover Police Department, police got a 911 call just after 5 a.m. Tuesday that there was a deceased male lying in the ground corridor near the kitchen and loading dock at the Renaissance Ross Bridge Resort.
The victim is identified as Jose Raul Cardenas-Ramirez. "The suspect will be held at the Palm Beach County Jail and then extradited back to Alabama," Puri said.
Puri says the arrest went smoothly because of coordinated efforts by law enforcement in Alabama and Florida. "We have a Marshals task force in Alabama, so we are used to this. They send the case to our task force in Florida and it is a streamlined process," Puri said.
