WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Clematis Street in West Palm Beach is being recognized nationally as one of the "Great Streets" in America.
The American Planning Association has released its 2014 list of "Great Places in America", and Clematis was honored as one of the top 10 streets in the U.S.
Citing "abundant dining and entertainment options", the APA says Clematis Street is "a place where people come to shop, dine, do business, relax, and have fun".
Annual events like the boat show, SunFest and other concerts and festivals helped the downtown West Palm Beach thoroughfare make the list.
The new library and city hall complex nearby were also cited as adding life to the street, along with the new waterfront park and pavilion that opened in 2010.
The APA says it's spotlighting "places of exemplary character, quality and planning" and "having a true sense of place, cultural and historical interest, community involvement, and a vision for tomorrow."
The only other place in Florida to be recognized by the institute was Lakeland's Lake Mirror Park as one of the top "Great Public Spaces."
