Tiger bites construction worker on private property

PALM BEACH COUNTY, FL (WFLX) - Palm Beach County Fire Rescue is investigating an incident in which, it says, a tiger bit a person near Ranch Colony off Southeast Mack Dairy Road.

Monday afternoon, first responders found a patient that had suffered a bite injury from a large cat.

Fire rescue identified the patient as a male. He was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center for treatment.

A Florida wildlife spokesperson said he may have suffered a severed thumb.

Florida Wildlife officials say the big cat was housed on private property and properly licensed. It says the cat was in a cage, and a construction worker put his hand in the cage and was bitten.
