BOYNTON BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Miami-Dade police are looking for the person responsible for robbing a Boynton Beach cab driver at gunpoint in Miami.

Police released surveillance video Wednesday of the armed robbery that happened after midnight on September 11, according to police.

Police say taxi driver Guerdy Rosalva, 58, was called to pick up a passenger in Boynton Beach to drop off near NW 140 Terrace and NW 12 Avenue.

When Rosalva dropped the person off, police said, Rosalva was approached by a gunman demanding his money.

Surveillance video shows a man reaching into the car, also capturing tattoos on the gunman's hand.

Police say the word "DADE" is tattooed on his right hand and possibly the word "COUNTY" on the left.

Police are hoping someone will recognize the tattoos to help them make an arrest, and give other cab drivers some peace of mind.

Ezechiel Aurelus is a friend of Rosalva's and also a cab driver in Boynton Beach.

"After two weeks, [Rosalva] told me what happened because I hadn't seen him. I said, 'Hey I didn't see you. What's going on?' And he told me he was robbed in Miami," said Aurelus.

Aurelus says he never knows on any given day who will get into his backseat or what kind of people will approach his car.

He says he's never been in a dangerous situation, but word of Rosalva's armed robbery gives him added worry about not having much protection.

No cages. No weapons. "Just pray, God, please don't do anything to me. That's the only thing you can do," Aurelus said.

If you have any information about this crime, or recognize the tattoos, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
