Ft. Pierce police searching for men involved in attempted kidnapping of child

FORT PIERCE, FL (WFLX) - Police are searching for two man in a white van who attempted to kidnap a 4-year-old boy in Fort Pierce on Thursday night.

Police said the two men attempted to lure the child into the van at about 5:30 p.m. on Avenue H near N. 16th Street.

According to officials, a passerby and the child's older sister yelled at one of the men as he grabbed the 4-year-old by the shirt. The man got back into the van and left the area heading east on Avenue H.

The child was unharmed.“The child's older sister saw this happening and yelled. A neighbor also yelled, and the suspect got back in the van and took off north on 16th Street,” said Fort Pierce Police Dep. Lt. Katherine England.

The van is described as a large, white, passenger van with tinted windows. The van was very dirty, missing the driver's side rear hubcap and had large dent in the left rear corner, police say.

The male suspects were only described as white males about 30 to 40 years old.
