WELLINGTON, FL (WFLX) - The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office has identified the driver of a sport-utility vehicle who was killed Tuesday in a crash involving a dump truck in Wellington.
The wreck happened just after 4 p.m. in the 4700 block of South Shore Boulevard. Investigators said the SUV, driven by Cesar Eschavarria of Wellington, appeared to veer into oncoming traffic and struck the dump truck head on, according to the sheriff's office.
The SUV ended up in a canal, the sheriff's office said.
The driver of the dump truck said he saw Eschavarria holding a phone and looking down when the wreck occurred, said PBSO.
