JUNO BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Florida Power and Light, Waste Management and the Florida Highway Patrol are pushing to make sure drivers understand the new parts of the "Move Over Law". The three groups are shooting a public service announcement Wednesday morning in Juno Beach.
This year, utility and sanitation vehicles were added to the "Move Over Law". The law already tells drivers to give space and slow down for emergency vehicles and tow trucks.
Drivers need to give one lane of space when one of those vehicles is parked on the side of the road. If a driver can't give one lane, they need to be going 20 mph below the speed limit.
The move over law pertains to both highways and regular roads. Drivers who don't follow the law can face a ticket and fine.
