Park Vista High School wins marching band state competition

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Three local marching bands took home titles in the state championships over the weekend.

Jupiter High, Park Vista and Seminole Ridge all received top honors at the competition held in St. Petersburg.

Hundreds of family and friends were waiting to welcome home the state-champion Park Vista High School marching band as they returned home Sunday night.

Park Vista High School took the 5-A top spot, competing against 89 bands across the state in the Marching Band Master's Association. "It's just amazing. All the hard work we put into it. It's like five months of blood sweat and tears and it really pays off when you hear like, you're first place. It's just like amazing," said Madeline Skinner, Park Vista Color Guard.

"They have just performed extremely well using their physical abilities and their musical talents to make us all very proud of them," said Cynthia Wood, Park Vista band board president.

Students say they're making a name for Palm Beach County for top-notch marching band organizations.

The Seminole Ridge High School Marching Hawks placed first in 2-A at the state finals. Jupiter High School won the 3-A division.
