Judge Jeffrey Colbath denies John Goodman motion for a new trial

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A motion for a new trial by John Goodman filed on November 5 has been denied.

In issuing his ruling Judge Jeffrey Colbath said, “No factual or legal grounds for a new trial, not already considered by this Court, have been presented. No grounds have been presented establishing that this Court erred in the decision of any matter of law during the course of the trial, erroneously instructed the jury, or erroneously refused to instruct the jury. Likewise, no legal or factual grounds have been presented establishing that the Defendant did not receive a fair and impartial trial. The Defendant received a fair and impartial trial."

Last month Goodman was sentenced to 16 years in prison for a 2010 crash that killed Scott Wilson..

Goodman, who was convicted of DUI manslaughter, was driving a Bentley that hit Wilson's car. Wilson's vehicle went into a canal and he drowned.
