LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - An overnight fire at a church in Lake Worth is being investigated as an arson.
Around midnight, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue battled a fire at the Lakeside United Methodist Church on 12th Avenue South.
First-arriving firefighters reported seeing smoke coming from the eaves and front door.
Crews located the fire quickly and had it under control within seven minutes of arrival, according to Palm Beach County Fire Rescue Cpt. Albert Borroto.
Firefighters were able to contain it to the room where it started, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the church. However, the church office and phone line were destroyed. An investigator was called to the location to determine the cause of this fire. There were no reported injuries.
Senior pastor David Branson said Christmas Eve services will continue as planned at 7 p.m. "I just want them to know that God loves them, and as we continue working for the kingdom of God, God's love always shows up and wins out. So, we will get through this and we will move on, and it will be a good day, a blessing," said Branson.
