Names Released in Lantana Helicopter Crash

An update has just been released announcing the names of the men who were involved in the deadly helicopter crash Monday in John Prince Park - near the Lantana airport.

Thirty-four-year-old Luis Aviles, from West Palm Beach, was killed in the crash. Aviles was enrolled at Palm Beach State. He had earned his pilot certification and served in the U.S. Marines.

Jonathan Desouza, from Boynton Beach, survived the crash. He is in fair condition Tuesday at Delray Medical Center. We don't know very much about what happened, except the chopper and the two men were in went down around 10:30 Monday morning.

Witnesses in a nearby campground at John Prince Park say they heard the helicopter "sputtering". Palm Beach Helicopters, a flight training school owned the chopper. The flight training school has been around since the early 80's, and students say people from as far away as Washington state travel to Lantana to get training there.

The school has not commented on the crash.
