Smoke evacuates high-rise retirement building in Manalapan

By Christina Noce

MANAPALAN, FL (WFLX) - Smoke at a high-rise retirement building in Manalapan evacuated residents early Monday morning.

At least 10 fire trucks from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue arrived at the Carlisle Independent Living Facility, located at 450 Ocean Ave., around 3:30 a.m.

The smoke was spotted on the first and second floor of the building. Firefighters went to each floor, checking each apartment to make sure all residents were OK.

Fire investigators said the smoke was coming from an air conditioning unit on the roof. They were able to fix the problem before a fire occurred.

No one was hurt and all residents were able to return to their rooms.
