Delray Beach discussing banning e-cigs in smoke free public places

DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - The City of Delray Beach will discuss a proposal to ban e-cigarettes in stores, restaurants, and other places where smoking isn't allowed on Tuesday.

Tracy Schnittman ditched real cigarettes five months ago. Her e-cigarette delivers nicotine, like a cigarette, without some of the other harmful toxins found in regular cigarette smoke. "I do think we have the freedom to do it where we want, and I don't think that it really is like the restaurant's or movie theater's business."

"If anything, it would most likely help us, no one wants to be around that," said Todd Lawrence with City Oyster and Sushi Bar.

Many people remain concerned about the health effects of e-cigarette vapor. The CDC says it can contain nicotine and other toxins.
