Dog saved from owner's will euthanized in Utah after cancer diagnosis

(WFLX) - "Bela" a German shepherd made headlines when his owner died.

In her will, owner Connie Lay said, Bela should either be put down and buried with her or be sent to an animal refuge in Utah.

Many people were outraged by the first option, and Bela wound up at the sanctuary.

But after less than a month there, Bela has died. Caregivers discovered he had cancer, and had to euthanize him.

His ashes were sent back to Indiana to be buried with his owner.
