"Irritant" at Jeaga Middle School investigated

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Fire crews are investigating a 'hazardous condition' call at Jeaga Middle School in West Palm Beach. At least nine units were dispatched to the campus which is located at 3777 N. Jog Rd.

Initial reports say there was an 'irritant' in two classrooms and students complained of itchy eyes and feeling nauseous.

A West Palm Beach fire spokesman says at least 60 students and teachers were taken outside, and when they were exposed to the wind most of their symptoms disappeared. Nine people were transported to the hospital for further evaluation.

The rest of the school was evacuated as a precaution.

A HAZMAT team is inside the school trying to determine a cause.
