Fatal accident linked to undercover drug buy

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Documents released in US District Court in West Palm Beach Wednesday morning are providing more information about a fatal accident that took place Tuesday on Jog Road near the entrance to the Florida Turnpike.

Evens Estiverne was arrested by federal agents on drug charges following an investigation that began in 2013.

Undercover agents say that over the past two years they had arraigned to buy Oxycodone pills from Estiverne.

On Tuesday, February 17, agents agreed to meet Estiverne in the Home Depot parking lot at 6800 Okeechobee Blvd at 1:30 p.m.

Estiverne, according to his arrest report, provided federal agents with over 2,000 Oxycodone pills worth $18,000 during the transaction.

Agents say that while Estiverne was meeting with undercover agents, a second vehicle registered to him drove into the parking lot to keep an eye on the transaction.

As an arrest team approached Estiverne, agents say that second vehicle, which was driven by Woody Jacques, took off through the parking lots of the Home Depot and nearby Publix at speeds estimated to be in excess of 100 miles per hour.

They say the car exited the parking lot and turned south into the northbound lanes of Jog Road.

Jacques then struck a northbound vehicle, lost control and hit several trees, agents said.

He died on impact, according to investigators.

Evens Estiverne has been charged with possession of Oxycodone with intent to sell and will be back in federal court on February 25.
