Battle lingers over boy's circumcision

By Christina Noce

WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - It's a legal battle that started in Boynton Beach but gained national attention, and it's expected to come to an end Tuesday.

A judge gave a Boynton Beach father the go-ahead to circumcise his 4-year-old son; even though, the boy's mother is against it. Human rights activists openly said they plan to put pressure on the doctor not to do the procedure.

This started as one family's private issue between a judge and divorce lawyers, but once news spread through social media, it seemed everyone had an opinion.

The battle of circumcising the boy began several years. When 4-year-old Chase was 1 years old, his parents signed a parenting agreement which included having their son circumcised.

After they divorced, the mother changed her mind -- claiming it was only then she learned more about what the procedure entailed.

The mother still disagrees, but the judge sided with the father.

It seems like this is a done deal, but the doctor could always choose not to do the procedure Tuesday.

Protestors will be there, and human rights activists ,who have been protesting this decision every step of the way, say there is no reason to circumcise a healthy 4-year-old boy.
