Study: Test can determine life expectancy

(WFLX) - How long will you live? According to a new study published in American and European medical journals, there's a simple test you can do to find out. Dr. Claudio Gil Araujo, MD, PhD. invented the Sitting Rising Test. He's proven it can predict your risk of dying in the next five years.

The goal is to get down and back up from a sitting position with minimal support. Results are based on a scale of one to 10. According to the study, if you score a 3 or less your risk of dying is five times greater over the next five years.

How it works:
First, cross your feet and and sit down (that's how you get the first 5 points), then come back up (that's worth the other 5 points). Take a point off for each time you use a hand, arm or knee for support. Take off half of a point when you lose your balance on the way down or back up.

According to Dr. Araujo's study, for every point you get, there's a 21% decrease in mortality from all causes.
