Electricians needed in Palm Beach County

By Tania Rogers

LAKE WORTH, FL (WFLX) - Businessman Rick Seymour is looking for electricians. He needs to hire a dozen.

"Right now, fortunately for us in Palm Beach County the building growth is back and the demand for skilled workers is intense. We are working very hard every day to meet the demand just to employ skilled workers," Seymour said.

In order to meet the demand, Seymour is working with Palm Beach State College on an apprenticeship program for those who want to work with advanced technology.

The program would give the students the experience they need to find a job. "Everything from fire alarms, burglar alarms, gate entry systems where you control who comes or goes on a piece of property, video surveillance and then home automation," he said.

The college is on board with the plan. "There is such a big need because there's a lack of training for it, so hopefully we will be able to help get out there and get going and get a career,” said Program Director Kent Hartwig.
