WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - A West Palm Beach hit and run victim is asking for help finding the driver who injured him and damaged his motorcycle.
Elvis Rivera says a driver hit him in front of the Tiffany Lake neighborhood on 45th St.
Rivera says he saw the car run a red light. "He floored it, and I just braced for the impact. He hit me. He flipped me over his windshield, and I landed on the ground," Rivera said.
After the car hit him, Rivera says, he was able to crawl out of the street before the driver turned around and ran over his motorcycle a second time. "I heard a big squeal and they came back and finished off my bike and then took off," Rivera said.
Rivera is a member of the Enforcers Motorcycle Club.
He and his Enforcers brothers passed out fliers with a picture of a car similar to what he says hit him. Rivera says he saw a white Mercury station wagon speed away from the scene.
The Enforcers stopped as many cars as they could near the neighborhood, hoping someone might recognize the car and know who it belongs to.
Rivera says he built his motorcycle by hand. "I can't afford that bike," Rivera said.
He's left devastated by the damage to his irreplaceable bike. He has fractured hands and bruises all over his body. "My fingers are done. I don't know if I can ride again," Rivera said.
Rivera hopes to find the driver before anyone else is injured. "I'm someone's father. I'm someone's friend. Ex-military. This person did not care about that," Rivera said.
He believes the driver may live in or frequently visit the Tiffany Lake neighborhood because that's where the driver was headed when he was hit.
If you have any information about the accident you are asked to call Palm Beach County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-458-TIPS.
