Dog shot, left to die on train tracks

TAMPA, FL (WFLX) - A dog, in Tampa, was shot, tied to railroad tracks, and left for dead! Many of you responded in angered and outraged over the photo we posted on Facebook.

Tampa police say tips are pouring in about who shot the dog and left her strapped to railroad tracks with a belt -- hoping a train would pass through and run her over.

Police were able to stop an oncoming train just in time to rescue her. Officers immediately freed the pooch and rushed her to Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Center. We're told she will need to undergo surgery to remove her leg.

The staff at the Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Center named the dog Cabela. Her treatment will run several thousands dollars, but will be picked up by the clinic. Once she's healthy, Cabela will be spayed, vaccinated, and set up for adoption.

Now, police are on the lookout for the dog's owner as they try to figure out who did it! We've learned one of those donors, a well-known business owner in Tampa is now offering $1,500 to the person who does the right thing and turns in the dog's owner or abuser.
