PHOENIX (CBS5/AP) - Convicted murderer Jodi Arias has been temporarily banned from having phone calls and video chats of a non-legal nature for violating jail rules.

Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Thursday that the restrictions will be placed on Arias for six weeks.

Arpaio said she's also prohibited from ordering commissary items.

According to Arpaio, there is evidence that Arias was trying to avoid having conversations monitored by getting inmates to make phone calls for her.

On Tuesday, he banned 10 of her most regular visitors.

Arpaio said the visitors, including two 15-year-old girls, were banned for violations including taking photos with their phones of the jail.

A video visitor from Greece was banned for using a false ID to gain access to Arias.

The sheriff claims several of them are responsible for helping Arias with her social media sites.
