WEST PALM BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Mayor Jeri Muoio celebrated Tuesday night her win against opponent Kimberly Mitchell.
"I am ecstatic. It is wonderful," Muoio told supporters at a celebration party.
She thanked supporters and said she is ready to get back to work. "It has been hard to be mayor and run a campaign at the same time. I'm looking forward to going back to mayor," Muoio said.
Muoio says finalizing spring training baseball and the water treatment plant are her main priorities going into her new term.
Down the street, opponent Kimberly Mitchell thanked her supporters and conceded. "This isn't a loss. It really isn't. It is just another step in the life of a city, and I am encouraging everyone to get behind this mayor. She is the mayor for the next four years, and I wish her well," Mitchell said. Muoio thanked the people who endorsed her including the state attorney, the sheriff, and the firefighters.
In Delray Beach, Mayor Cary Glickstein defeated former Mayor Thomas Carney. This was a rematch of the last election contest in which Glickstein defeated Carney.
