Tire-filled semi hijacked, suspect arrested

FORT PIERCE, FL (WFLX) - A GPS unit helped the Florida Highway Patrol locate a semi filled with tires that was reported stolen in Kentucky, according to a police report.

The report stated that the big rig was filled Yokohama truck tires, and that it disappeared Saturday in Louisville.

State troopers were notified that a GPS device on the trailer indicated the truck was headed south on the Florida Turnpike.

On Sunday, troopers were able to locate the semi at mile marker 174, ten miles south of Yeehaw Junction.

The truck was then stopped two miles north of the Fort Pierce exit by troopers.

Investigators were able to confirm that the semi had been stolen in Kentucky and was carrying truck tires worth $110,000.

FHP arrested driver Marvin Napoles Manzano, who is from Louisville, and charged him with stealing cargo valued at over $50,000 and the grand theft of a vehicle.

Troopers booked Manzano into the St. Lucie County Jail.
