Manuel Abreu: Delray Beach doctor charged with sexual battery on a patient

DELRAY BEACH, FL (WFLX) - Delray Beach police have arrested a doctor who is accused of touching a female patient in a sexually inappropriate way.

Dr. Manuel Abreu, 45, is charged with sexual battery. He made his first appearance in front of a judge Wednesday.

According to the arrest report, Abreu was working at Personal Physician Care in Delray Beach in August 2014 when the incident happened.

The victim told investigators she was alone with Abreu after he removed a cyst from her leg. As he was cleaning the wound, she claims he touched her vagina through her underwear.

The victim said that once she left the surgery room she immediately made a complaint with the front desk and the office manager, and then went directly to the police department.

A search of Palm Beach County court records show two women have filed civil lawsuits against Abreu. Both claimed Abreu sexually battered them at the same clinic. According to the arrest report, another woman filed a report in Largo, Florida.

Personal Physician Care did not comment on the arrest, except to say Abreu no longer works at the clinic.
