(WLFX) - One out of every six American households is buying fast food for a dog on at least some of their drive thru or take-out window visits, according to research conducted by the marketing research firm Relevation Research.
The online survey was conducted from responses by 1,499 adults in March.
Just over one third of dog owners ever drive thru with their dog in tow, but four-fifths of those actually claim to order something specifically for their pup.
McDonald's is visited most often for the dog followed by Burger King and Wendy's.
Dogs Naturally Magazine, a publication geared toward dog nutrition, says 40 percent of dogs are obese and partially due to what they eat.
Editors of the magazine said most kibble is loaded with corn, a cheap filler. Feed corn that is fed to cattle and very fattening. Check the ingredients before you buy certain dog food.
