The 18th anniversary of Siblings Day will be celebrated on April 10 by siblings and their friends and families all over the world.

“All siblings should be appreciated, honored and celebrated on April 10th each year and have a day to call their own,” says Claudia Evart, founder of Siblings Day and the Siblings Day Foundation (SDF).

“Siblings Day is not just for young persons still living together with their parents. It also can be a special occasion for adult siblings who have lost touch or gone in different directions in life to reconnect or perhaps in some cases even a day of truce. Siblings can be honored in many ways on Siblings Day, such as with special Sibling Day cards or flowers or just simply a hug.”

Siblings Day is now recognized in 49 states because of gubernatorial proclamations, according to Evart.

A native New Yorker and a New York City resident, Evart was inspired to create Siblings Day after the untimely passing of her only two siblings, Alan and Lisette.
