PORT ST. LUCIE, FL (WFLX) - A bar bouncer in Port St. Lucie is recovering in a Miami burn unit after a patron threw what appeared to be a cup of gasoline on him, then set him on fire during a scuffle Sunday night, Port St. Lucie police say.

The patron, who is still in the run, was kicked out of the bar earlier in the evening for not paying his bar tab, according to police.

Monday afternoon police identified the suspect as 45-year-old Ivan Louis Rodriguez of SW Cadet Circle.

Rodriguez returned to Neely's Grog House on Bayshore Boulevard and threw the gas on the bouncer, police say. In the subsequent scuffle, they say Rodriguez ignited his lighter which caught the bouncer's clothes on fire.

He then left in a pickup truck.

The victim has severe burns on his arms, face and chest.

When they find Rodriguez police say they plan to charge him with aggravated battery. If you know where he is you are urged to call 9-1-1, the Port St. Lucie Police Department at (772) 871-5001, or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273 TIPS.
