Shots fired after shoplifting incident at Saks Fifth Avenue in Gardens Mall

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FL (WFLX) - Crime scene tape was posted outside of Saks Fifth Avenue in the parking lot of The Gardens Mall Wednesday morning following a shoplifting incident involving handbags, according to Palm Beach Gardens police.

Two people tried to steal purses, and a Saks Loss Prevention Agent confronted them in the parking lot, police said.

The agent received miNor injuries during a tussle when the pair resisted the attempt to detain them, according to police. A private armed security guard, Not affiliated with the mall, Noticed the commotion in the parking lot and fired warning shots in the air, police said.

No one was hit. Police say responding officers stopped the two suspects who were trying to get away. They are currently being questioned.
