Friends thank passenger who helped turn in accused hit and run driver

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla --Friends of a hit and run victim are saying thank you to the passenger who helped police identify the accused driver.

The crash happened about a week ago in Boynton Beach. Larry Thompson, known to his friends as Tony T, is still in critical condition.

After watching WPTV's interview with Patricia Hopwood, Tony's friends reached out hoping to find Patricia and thank her for turning her friend into police.

"For her to have turned her friend in to help another individual speaks volumes to me," said Debinique Sadler, one of Tony's long-time friends.

Our camera's were rolling when the two met for the first time. Debinique Sadler saying 'thank you' to the woman who helped police arrest Christina Williams, the woman accused of running Tony over on his moped last Tuesday and then leaving the scene.

It's a day that continues to haunt Patricia Hopwood who was in the passenger's seat of Williams' car that day.

"It breaks my heart," said Hopwood to Sadler. "It tears my world away."

While Tony is still fighting for his life, his friends say they needed to thank Patricia for what she did.

"She came forward. She did the right thing," said Sadler. "And she's going to be my friend for life."

Williams did bond out of jail. She is scheduled to appear in court at the end of July.
