SUV driver killed by train in Boynton Beach

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. - A man driving a sport-utility vehicle was killed by a train Friday morning in Boynton Beach.

Local police said the fatal crash occurred around 8:55 a.m. on the FEC tracks located at SE 12th Avenue just north of Woolbright Road.

The man was driving a white Isuzu SUV and attempted to drive around the railroad crossing gates when his vehicle was struck by a train.

Boynton Beach police said the victim was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

No one on the train was injured. FEC police are at the scene.

At 9:29 a.m., Woolbright Road and SE 12th Avenue are blocked. Drivers should use Ocean Avenue and SE 23rd Avenue as alternate routes.

Victim is identified as FJ Alexandre.
