Purses stolen from cars parked at Port St. Lucie gas stations

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. - The Port St. Lucie Police Department is asking for the public's help finding burglars who were caught on camera breaking into cars at two gas stations Saturday evening.

Around 7:15 p.m., police said two men entered a Mobil Gas Station located at 640 SE Becker Rd. in Port St. Lucie.

After using the facilities, the men left the store, got into their car and then circled the parking lot.

Video shows the two men pulling next to the victim’s car, which is parked at the gas pumps.

One of the men exited the getaway car, entered the victim’s car and stole her purse.  After leaving the gas station, police believe they headed north on Florida’s Turnpike.

About 10 minutes later, police received reports of another car burglary at a RaceTrac located at 221 SW Port St. Lucie Blvd.

In this case, the car again pulled up next to the victim’s car, which was parked at the gas pumps.

The burglar entered the car, stole the victim’s purse and fled. Detectives believe these two incidents were committed by the same people.

Based on the surveillance video taken at the Mobil gas station, one of the men is described as 6 feet tall, weighing around 215 pounds with a partial beard and wearing a dark skull cap, light colored plaid short-sleeve shirt, peach colored shorts with red and white deck shoes.

The second burglar is described as about 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 130 pounds, wearing a white sleeveless shirt with black writing on the front, dark colored jeans and white and black sneakers.

Their car is a two-door, dark-colored vehicle.

If you have any information on this case, call the Port St. Lucie Police Department at (772) 871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273 TIPS.
