A scholarship in the works for two Pahokee Middle School students who died in a fire.
The school is trying to raise money in the names of Cassandra and Catherine Colon.
The pair died in a mobile home fire in Pahokee in May.
For every $2,000 raised by the school, Take Stock in Children Palm Beach County will contribute $2,000. Working with the Florida Prepaid Foundation, recipients will receive a two-year Florida Prepaid scholarship which would cover two years of tuition at a two-year state college or four-year public university.
"The promise of a college scholarship and a better life can guide a child in the right direction and we are honored to partner with Pahokee Middle School in memory of Cassandra and Catherine," Take Stock in Children Palm Beach County Executive Director Nancy Stellway said in a news release.
The first scholarship will be awarded to a member of Pahokee High School's class of 2019, which would have been Cassandra and Catherine Colon's graduating class.
