Smash and grab burglars made off with jewelry after an early-morning heist in Port St. Lucie, according to police.

Police say 4 men targeted VM Jewelry as well as Big Apple Pizza on SW Port St. Lucie Boulevard.

The suspects smashed the front doors to both businesses but couldn't get inside the restaurant due to hurricane-proof doors. However, police said they did enter the jewelry store and stole $8,000 in merchandise.

Police said they found some jewelry which had been dropped during what appeared to be a hasty getaway.

Investigators have released surveillance video of the suspects.

VM Jewelry reopened for business Monday.

No one was injured.

Anyone who has any information is urged to call the Port St. Lucie Police Department at (772) 871-5001 or Treasure Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-800-273 TIPS.
