Horses seized in animal abuse case auctioned in Okeechobee

OKEECHOBEE, Fla. - The Okeechobee County Sheriff's Office auctioned off five horses Tuesday morning that were taken away from a property in May following charges of animal abuse.

The horse auction took place at the Agri Civic Center.

The animals were seized at NW 298th St. in Okeechobee.

An investigation found the horses were malnourished and suffered multiple abrasions.

James "Bo" Sharpe is facing eight counts of animal cruelty, third-degree felonies, and three counts of animal cruelty, first-degree misdemeanors.

Sharpe was arrested May 15.
