Two Okeechobee men accused of possessing 29 sea turtles are facing felony charges.
19-year-old Nathaniel Doctor and 18-year-old Andrew Davis were arrested Tuesday at 3:30 in the morning after a traffic stop for speeding in northern Palm Beach County.
When officers approached the car they say they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and ended up doing a search.
That's when they say they discovered a red bucket full of green sea turtle hatchlings.
Two juveniles were also in the car and later released to their parents.
The turtles were released into the ocean and Doctor and Davis were arrested for violating the Marine Turtle Protection Act, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Bond was set at $4,500 each. Both men are out of jail.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation says it is working with U.S. Fish and Wildlife on this case.
