Woman ran boyfriend over with car following argument in St. Petersburg, police say

St. Petersburg police have arrested a woman accused of running over her boyfriend during a heated argument.

According to police, Rowena Clifford, 26, got into her car after fighting with Kenneth Coffey Jr., 44, on 98th Avenue North on Wednesday.

As Clifford tried to leave, Coffey was standing in front of her car.  Police said Clifford hit the gas and hit Coffey at a high rate of speed.

He ended up on the hood of the car.

Police said Clifford continued to drive about 150 feet, before she slammed on her brakes in an attempt to throw Coffey off the car.

Coffey fell off the car and hit his head on the ground.

He is currently listed in critical condition with a serious head injury at Bayfront Medical Center.

Clifford is charged with aggravated battery.
