A company called Shipt is launching a Publix grocery delivery service in South Florida next week.
The service starts on Aug. 18 and will operate in West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach and Boca Raton in Palm Beach County. The company will also operate in Broward and Miami-Dade counties, but no word yet on the Treasure Coast.
Members have to join the service, which costs $49 per year. In return, Shipt says you will get unlimited deliveries on orders over $35.
Users will shop, pay and schedule deliveries through a mobile app for iOS and Android. The Shipt website says that all Publix items will be available for same day delivery in as soon as one hour.
One caveat noted on the site is that prices vary from in store prices by an average of $5 on a $35 order, but "We think you'll actually save money by avoiding buying things you don't need and saving time for what's important to you."
The company is not affiliated with Publix, but says that Publix's BOGO offers will be listed in the app.
