Teen says Port St. Lucie couple sexually abused her for 5 years

A Port Saint Lucie couple is out on bail after they were arrested on felony child abuse charges.

Investigators at the Port Saint Lucie Police Department say the couple physically and sexually abused a girl in their care for more than five years.

An 8-page arrest affidavit details the alleged abuse which investigators say the young girl endured from 13 to 18 years of age.

Investigators say the teen, from Indiana, moved in with the couple after her mother died.

They say Rob Johnson, and his wife Marie, who were related to the mother, took the 13-year-old into their home.

The girl, now 18, told investigators within the first week of living with the Johnsons the husband and wife told her that to become part of the family she would have to have sex with them. She says she was forced to perform sex acts on both.

Investigators say the couple, specifically the husband, used the Bible to justify the abuse. The alleged victim told police that Rob Johnson studied the Old Testament and even held Sunday school at the home for the entire family.

The teen also told investigators the sexual abuse occurred twice a week for more than five years.

Marie and Rob Johnson have each been charged with two felony counts of sexual assault against a child. They both appeared before a St. Lucie County Court judge Wednesday morning and were released on bail.
