Runner inspired by 'Forrest Gump' raises money for charity running across America

Inspired by the movie Forrest Gump, a Michigan man ran 3,000 miles across America raising money for charity.

Finishing his journey yesterday in Port Clyde, Maine, Barclay Oudersluys celebrated with friends and family and a bottle of champagne.

Oudersluys began "Project Gump" on may 9 in Los Angeles, California.

Through rain and shine the 23-year-old ran nearly 50-miles every day for about 100 days.

Creating a page on crowdrise.com, the determined runner raised more than $11,000 for "steps" - an organization working to end poverty around the world.

Just as fans did for Forrest Gump, people joined Oudersluys along the way, running alongside him and holding up signs in support.

Finishing a day early and exceeding his fundraising goal, the accomplished runner is taking a well-deserved rest.

And that's all we have to say about that.
