Local friend of murdered WDBJ reporter, reflects on childhood memories of Alison Parker

JUPITER, Fla. - WDBJ 7 Reporter Alison Parker celebrated her 24th birthday last week. Photojournalist Adam Ward was engaged to one of the producers at the station. Family and friends are still in shock.

Houston Stutz said Parker had a bubbly personality. She was caring and helped everyone.

Stutz said Parker helped him get an internship at Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter. He sais Parker checked his resume for him. He's been working at the stadium since January.

He and Parker are from the same hometown, Martinsville, Virginia. They went to middle school together, swam on the same team and both attended James Madison University.

Stutz said Parker was a mentor and he's grateful for the time he spent with her.

"Every time she was around you, she was smiling, she was fun to be around, very bubbly, excited. You never met her on a bad day. She was always having a great day and she made your day so much better and that's one of the biggest things. She was a great person, great friend," he said.

Stutz said his parents also knew Parker very well.  They were the ones who called him at 7 o'clock Wednesday morning to tell him to check on his friend.
