Boynton Beach World War II veteran receives overdue medals

It's never too late to thank a veteran.

A World War II veteran has received eight medals he earned during his time in the Navy.

Vincent Miro enlisted when he was 18-years-old. He was deployed to Europe and served on the D-Day invasion.

When he was discharged after the war, he never got a letter of commendation.

As the family looked into the issue, they realized he had earned but never received several other medals.

Tuesday, Congresswoman Lois Frankel presented the 89-year-old Boynton Beach resident with the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Navy Expeditionary  Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Discharge Button, and Honorable Service Lapel Pin.
