Developer submits plan for Gulfstream Hotel

LAKE WORTH, Fla. - For the first time in years, we are seeing plans for an iconic Lake Worth building.

Owners of the Gulfstream Hotel submitted a conceptual site plan and a rezoning application to the city.

Plans call for $60 million in renovations, a hotel annex and four-story parking garage. To accomplish that, developers say they will have to demolish or move two existing structures.

The property is currently zoned for downtown mixed-use and multi-family residential.

Hudson Holdings who owns the property wants the entire site to be downtown mixed-use.

"We are going to make sure it's done properly,” Steven Michael with Hudson Holdings said.

Michael is promises the plan will stick to its roots. “This is the most important to us. It's special to us; everything around it, the potential is enormous."

Hudson Holdings are the same investors pitching to develop the Lake Worth Casino complex.

In October, the Historic Resources Preservation Board will review the plans. If approved, it will move along to the city commission.

Michael hopes work can get started in 18-months to a year.
