Leaders with the Palm Beach County School District are trying to change the way children are tested.

Last year was the first year districts across the state used the Florida Standards Assessments, or FSA.

Students and teachers endured many setbacks during its inaugural year.

The computerized test had some issues that delayed testing for several days in counties across the state.

It also set off a wave of protest from parents across Florida, who wanted their students to opt out of the test due to the issues and stress caused by it.

On Wednesday, district officials announced that they plan on asking the Florida Department of Education to change the way students are tested, and use tests like the PSAT and SAT.

The test would affect students in grades 7-11.

If approved, the change would go into effect in the 2016-2017 school year.
